Bhalswa Chowk is one of the four Black Spots on the Delhi Zero Fatality Corridor stretch as per the 2018 DTP report. The Chowk connects highly dense urban villages to the North and South of it, namely Bhalswa Dairy and Jahangirpuri, respectively.
It is a four- arm signalized Intersection. Located adjacent to the Rajghat memorial and Ekta Sthal and Since 2016, Rajghat Intersection witnessed a total of 19 crashes with 4 fatal crashes between 2018 to 2020 as per the Delhi Traffic Police data.
Karla Phata is an intersection located on the Old Mumbai Pune Highway - NH 48 at the point and is a four armed junction and serves as a refreshment pit stop for commuters using the NH. Karla Phata has registered 9 road crashes between 2019 and 2020, resulting in 7 fatalities and 1 serious injury as reported by the Pune Police and is one of the major high fatality spots on NH 48.
Kanhe Phata is a tri-junction located on the old Mumbai Pune Highway (NH 48) with a minor road leading to Kanhe village. Industries such as Mahindra LTD and Supreme LTD are located in the vicinity of this location.It has registered a total of 32 serious crashes, leading to 10 deaths and 35 injuries as reported by the Pune Police.
Endurance Phata lies in an industrial area with warehouses and manufacturing units of many major companies such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Skoda and LMT located in the immediate vicinity. It is a rotary yet works as a tri-junction and has unconventional geometry. It has registered a total of 5 serious crashes, all of which have been fatal.
The study area of the Peniel school in Ayappa Nagar, Bengaluru connects to Kids Castle Preschool through two tri-junctions and a residential street leading to potentially five intervention areas.
Burari Chowk is an intersection with a rotary on the Outer Ring Road, below the Burari Flyover. Burari Chowk has registered 26 significant crashes between 2016 and 2020, resulting in 10 fatalities and 35 crashes and 7 fatalities and was designated a "Black Spot" for four years by the Delhi Traffic Police.
Gandhi Vihar intervention area mentioned as “Gandhi Vihar Bus Stand” by the DTP report has been identified as Black Spot for four years. It is a stretch of 5-lane road connecting as a T-junction with a minor approach leading to the Gandhi Vihar village. It is located in Gandhi Vihar and registered a total of 29 total crashes, out of which 7 have been fatal and 2 crashes leading to serious injuries.
The Undri Intersection consists of two tri-junctions in close proximity. It is at the confluence of National Highway-65, and connects to NH 60. The junction lies in the peri urban area of the Pune city and has witnessed industrial institutional and residential developments leading to heavy traffic movement. It has registered 34 crashes between 2017-2019 as per the Pune Police data.
Khadi Machine Chowk lies in Kondhwa Taluka in peri urban area of Pune city . The intersection is a part of Pune Metropolitan Region Limits. The junctions lie along National Highway 65 in the East-West direction, Kondhwa road in the north and Yewalewadi road in south. It is a non-signalised intersection with multiple conflict points due to its scissor-like nature. The junction is surrounded mostly by commercial, residential and industrial developments having on street parking as a major issue. It has registered 65 crashes between 2017-2020 as per the Mumbai Police data.
Signature Bridge is a cantilever bridge at Wazirabad Road, connecting Wazirabad and Majnu ka Tila to East Delhi and is a high risk stretch. The Signature bridge - Timarpur and Khajoori Khas both are identified as blackspots by Delhi traffic police continuously for the past 5 years. It registered 53 crashes and 17 Fatalities between 2018 and 2021.
The Nehru Place Intersection is a four-armed signalised intersection located on the Outer Ring Road of South Delhi. This intersection experiences a high number of vehicular as well as pedestrian footfall due to its proximity to one of the busiest district centres of Delhi, the Nehru Place District Centre. In close vicinity of the Intersection lies the Nehru Enclave Metro Station, and a short distance away of 1.1 kms is located the Kalkaji Mandir Metro Station. It was an Accident Prone Zone in 2019 as per DTP report.
Vaiduwadi Chowk lies on NH-65 connecting Pune-Solapur and is a signalised T-junction. Surrounded by industrial, commercial and mixed use developments. A sudden change in road hierarchy is observed with many local roads opening directly on the highway causing wrong side vehicular traffic movements. The intersection recorded 9 crashes between 2019 and 2021 out of which 7 were serious.
Mukundpur Chowk is a roundabout, though it does not operate as one. Two existing U-turns channelize this intersection. It is located on the outer ring road of North Delhi. Between 2017 to 2021, the intervention area at Mukundpur Chowk registered a total of 32 serious crashes, leading to 10 deaths and 35 injuries, and was identified as Black Spot for five years by a DTP report.
An inlet for the traffic flowing in from Eastern Maharashtra, Kharadi Bypass is located in close vicinity of the Pune International Airport. It is a signalised T-junction connecting Viman Nagar and Wagholi along the east-west direction and Magarpatta road in the south. It is also a strategic intercity private bus transit stop. It is one of the busiest intersections in Pune with continuous heavy vehicular movement. The intersection witnessed a total of 10 crashes between 2019- 2021, of which two were fatal and four serious.
Bhondve Chowk is a mid-block T-junction located in PCMC near PCCOE College. It is surrounded mainly by residential and institutional developments. The northern arm is a dead end, the southern arm connects Hutatma chowk and the west leads to Akurdi Railway station road. The vending activity causes wrong direction vehicular movement. The speeding vehicles coming uphill from the west arm and wrong direction movement on the East-west arm leads to many conflict points.
The Sarita Vihar Intersection is a tri-junction located on Mathura Road in Delhi, connecting Delhi to Noida and Faridabad. The Intersection is connected to Jasola Apollo in the west, Badarpur in the east and Madanpur Khadar Village towards the north. It is well-connected by public transport including metro connectivity through the Sarita Vihar Metro Station. The Rama Krishna Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya, a government school, is located in close proximity to the Intersection.
Locally known as the Mankapur Indoor Stadium Chowk, the Kalpana Talkies Square is a four-arm intersection located at the Koradi Road on National Highway 47 in Nagpur. It connects to Chhindwara towards the north and Wardha towards the south. A minor road towards the west, known locally as the Jai Hind Nagar Road connects the Square to State Highway 260, while a similar minor road towards the east, locally known as the New Mankapur Road leads all the way to the railway line bisecting the city from north to south. While NH-47 comes under the road ownership of the National Highways Authority of India, the minor roads fall under the jurisdiction of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
A T-junction located at the intersection of National Highway 44 and Begur Road, the Bommanahalli Junction is also in the vicinity of two metro stations, which contribute to heavy pedestrian footfall. The Bommanahalli Junction witnessed a total of 34 crashes between 2018 and 2021, eight of which were fatal as per Bengaluru Traffic Police.
